Cornerstone Cabin sits on 11 private, forested acres with no other houses in sight by land or over the water. You'll be in another world, one that is peaceful & slow-moving, just you, the wildlife, the lake, & the cabin (sleeps 10). And yet, you're 10-to-15 minutes away from 3 grocery chains, Walmart, locally owned & operated quality restaurants, fast food, & Palace Pointe Family Entertainment (all under one roof), that is, 20 bowling lanes, 8 movie theatres, 7 billiards tables, rollerskating, video arcade, & food diner.
Cornerstone Cabin is lakefront & has a very big, panoramic view of the lake. It was constructed from three 100 year old square log cabins. The old cabins were tagged, disassembled, moved to the lake, & reassembled into a full 2 story, 4 BR, 2 bath (shower downstairs & shower/tub upstairs), log house in 2003 under current building codes. It has a tin roof & we used old-timey chinking, custom-milled beams, rafters, & floor joists. We purchased in its original state an 1820s staircase that is rock solid. It has a 10 X 20 cedar screened porch with seating for 6, 2 ceiling fans, & a Weber outdoor gas grill. The house is fully equipped w/ everything...complete kitchen just like home, linens, towels, 7 ceiling fans, chairs by the lake, everything. The bedrooms have: downstairs queen; 3 upstairs bedrooms (2 of which have beautiful cathedral ceilings with exposed rafters notched together the old fashion way) have a queen & twin in 1, 2 twins in another, & a doulble & twin in a 3rd bedroom. There is a gentle slope from house to water & a gentle slope into the water. You can lounge along the shoreline or use our pontoon boat dock for sunning, swimming, fishing, skiing & safely mooring your boat with the mooring whips. Fishermen come from far & wide to fish Mayo Lake for excellent crappie & bass fishing.
Cornerstone's foundation, chimney, & oversized fireplace, are made from stacked stone. It has satellite color TV, custom wooden shutters, old wood flooring, & inside seating for 12 at meal time. It's equipped with side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, & washer/dryer. It 'bout killed us puzzling this house together, but we're so thankful we persisted thru the challenges of building new construction out of old building materials. We know now that it's meant to be shared with good folks like you---so many people have enjoyed it & taken good care of it---hope y'all come!!!
weekly rates are $800 off-season & $1400 in-season; weekends $400 & $700 respectively; $250 reservation/refundable security deposit; $100 departure cleaning; $15 per pet per day; plus 5% lodging & 7.75% NC state sales taxes.
